Alone In The Dark Gets Pushed Back To January 2024 To Avoid Crowded October

Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Pieces Interactive just dropped the news that they’re pushing the launch date for Alone in the Dark by 3 months.

Alone in the Dark, which was initially scheduled to launch on 25 October 2023, and is now making its grand entrance on 16 January 2024. This decision was made in order to avoid the crowded October release window, where numerous other major titles are set to hit the market.

THQ Nordic recognize the importance of giving the horror reboot the best chance to succeed. By moving the release date to January 2024, they aim to avoid direct competition with other highly anticipated games that are expected to dominate this year’s October gaming landscape. Furthermore, it gives them more time to polish the game and to “perfect the gaming experience”.

The crowded October release schedule is no stranger to fierce competition, with numerous AAA titles vying for gamers’ attention. These titles include Alan Wake 2 (27 October) and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (20 October).

According to the press release sent out by THQ Nordic:

“Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”

Alone in The Dark is now slated to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and GOG on 16 January 2024.
