EA Motive Gives Update On Iron Man Game, Now Powered By Unreal Engine 5

In a new blog post, EA Motive has given an update on their Iron Man game. They have confirmed that the game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The statement reads:

I can’t believe it’s been over a year since my last update about our beloved Motive™ Studio. Exciting things have happened since then! In January, we released our remake of the iconic Dead Space™, which earned so much praise from players and press alike. This was a big milestone for us; it gave us a chance to show our passion, our expertise, and our commitment to quality in all that we do.

Since then, our focus has switched to the Iron Man project, giving us the opportunity to work (and play!) with another extraordinary property. We’re still early in pre-production and taking our time to make sure we set the best possible foundation for development. But already, we’re finding so many opportunities to explore story, design and gameplay with Iron Man, and it’s exciting to see the fantasy start coming alive. Even this early in the process, we’ve put in place a Community Council made up of Iron Man and Marvel fans; as with Dead Space, they’ll be offering feedback on pretty much everything throughout the development process. Meanwhile, we’ve chosen Unreal Engine 5 as our game engine, in order to empower the dev team to work their magic and create something really special.

In other studio news, our team members have started coming back in person to our cool studio space in downtown Montreal, and it feels really good. I love seeing those connections, the bonding and the smiles. Of course, we recognize the benefits of working remotely, so we continue to find a balance that gives us the best of both worlds. This is part of our vision for Motive, to give our teams the flexibility that remote work provides while also believing that collaboration and creativity can be more powerful and meaningful in person. I believe the right balance, and the renewed purpose it brings, will help us make our games even better.

This is a period of evolution for us—evolution that leads to elevation. Our studio continues to raise the bar on how we practice our values, including our steadfast commitment to learning and team spirit. We are so grateful to do what we do, in a field we all love, and for the trust given to us by EA, by our amazing partners at Marvel Games and of course, by our players. We are ultra-focused and motivated.

Developed in collaboration with Marvel Games, the game will feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channelling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.

Motive Studio brings their talent and excitement for creating fan-favourite worlds for players to explore and be their own hero, with experience developing titles like Star Wars Squadrons and the upcoming Dead Space remake on 27 January 2023.

The Iron Man game is one of three Marvel games being developed by studios under EA.

However, there is no release date or confirmed platforms as of now.

In the meantime, you can check out my review of Star Wars Squadrons here, or head on over here for my review of the Dead Space Remake. Both games were developed by EA Motive Studios.
