Hololive Parent Company Unveils New Publishing Arm Dedicated To Fangames
By Alisha Alix|November 15, 2023|0 Comment
Cover Corporation, the parent company of Hololive Production has recently announced the establishment of a new division focused on fangames. This initiative called “Holo Indie” aims to support the creation and distribution of fangames worldwide.
The program’s objective is to get these games on Steam and adjust their Derivative Work Guidelines on specific policies regarding music content, advertisements, and more. In the press statement, it has been announced that games under the publishing label are eligible for monetization. Meaning creators are able to charge for publishing their titles.
“As part of the support to clip creators’ activities, “Guidelines for Clips” indicates that the creators can use monetization schemes*2, so that we expect that fans may have the peace of mind to be able to enjoy our content in as many different forms as possible.”
Those who are interested can apply through the Application Form in which they are required to provide additional information regarding their game.
It should be no surprise that Cover Corporation has acknowledged the growing interest in fangames. Titles such as Holocure and Idol Showdown have already made a name for themselves, each appealing to a specific niche audience.
Although the press statement did state that Holo Parade will make its debut under the new division, the HoloCure Twitter account has recently announced that it will not be publishing the game under the new label, although they have expressed support for the initiative.

All in all, it seems like a great step in providing a proper platform for the Hololive community and facilitating the creation, distribution, and monetization of fangames. Holo Indie offers fangame creators the potential to create a wealth of exciting and innovative gaming experiences for fans of the virtual idol franchise.
