Invincible Creator Reveals Steven Yeun’s Marvel Role In The MCU

Steven Yeun will be starring in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Thunderbolts, but his role has remained a secret all this time… until now.

In an interview with comics artist David Finch, Robert Kirkman (the creator of Invincible and The Walking Dead) nonchalantly spills the beans about how Steven Yeun will be playing Robert Reynolds AKA The Sentry in the MCU.

He said:

“My good friend Steven Yeun is playing the Sentry in a movie.

Yeah he called me, he went in for a costume fitting. I hope I’m not…I don’t think this is a spoiler or anything that will get anybody in trouble. I don’t know, maybe. We’ll see. I don’t care. I don’t work for Marvel. what are they going to do to me?

Yeah, he called me and he said, ‘I just came back from a costume fitting for the Sentry. I guess I only do superheroes that are yellow and blue.’ He said he was at the costume fitting and was like, ‘Aww, crap. I forgot Invincible was yellow and blue.”

At the time of writing, Marvel has yet to officially announce who Steven Yeun will be playing, but there’s no reason for Robert Kirkman to lie, especially as one of the most influential people in the comics industry.

Steven Yeun is also best known for his roles as Glen Rhee in The Walking Dead TV series, Keith in Netflix’s Voltron Legendary Defender and Mark Grayson in the Invincible animated series on Prime Video.

Thunderbolts is slated to premiere on 25 July 2025.
