Max Payne Voice Actor Has Died

An iconic video game voice has passed away.

James McCaffrey, known for being the voice of Max Payne, has died. He was 65.

The actor passed away due to cancer. He died on Sunday December 17 surrounded by friends and family.

Apart from voicing Max Payne in all three games, he lent his likeness to the title character in Max Payne 3. He also voiced Control’s Zachariah Trench, as well as Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2 (basically Max Payne in everything but name due to Rockstar Games still holding the trademark). Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake portrayed Alex Casey’s likeness (as well as the first two Max Paynes).
