Obsidian Gives New Look At Avowed, Launching In Fall 2024
During the Xbox Developer Direct January 2024 live stream, Obsidian Entertainment unveiled new gameplay footage for the upcoming fantasy RPG Avowed, as well as revealed that it will launch for the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass and PC sometime in fall 2024.
It’s been 4 years since Avowed was originally announced but the graphics look like they’ve been downgraded from that initial announcement. However, Obsidian is best known for games like Fallout New Vegas and The Outer Worlds, where the detailed worldbuilding and compelling choice-based gameplay make up for any lacking visuals.
From the new look at gameplay, it looks like choices will be a huge part of gameplay and Avowed will also give players a lot of freedom in builds, including dual-wielding wands and more. It also seems like Obsidian is trying to emulate Larian Studios’ successful Baldur’s Gate 3 in a lot of ways.
The game’s synopsis reads:
Explore the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger. As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate rumours of a spreading plague with a secret that threatens to destroy everything. Can you save the island and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them apart?
