Palworld: The Most Popular Pals So Far (January 2024 Edition)

The hit survival game Palworld (in Early Access still, mind you) relies on its biggest draw to get people playing: its Pals. There are 137 of these Pal creatures in developer Pocket Pair’s game, and all of them are legally distinct Pokémon for good or ill.

Some of these are cute, while many of them are cute and useful for your base-building/manual labour-recruiting needs. There are too many Pals to make you ponder way too long about and determine who’s the best of the bunch. To make your life easier, here are our top picks you should recruit for your base and survivability.

Also, here’s a quick Palworld elemental type weakness chart:

Frostallion

The best Ice Pal you can use right now. Frostallion not only looks cool (heh), but has a great Partner Skill called Ice Steed. All ice attacks are boosted while you’re mounting Frostallion. It’s also a ranged Pal, so it’s better fighting enemies from a distance.

Location: Found in the snowy mountain region of the map in the northwest. It’s east of the Land of Absolute Zero teleport point. Bring Fire type Pals to deal with it/capture it.

Grizzbolt

Arguably the mascot of Palworld thanks to its giant yellow body and even bigger minigun. In Palworld, it’s the first tower boss you can capture and recruit to your cause.

It’s imperative that you catch it as you can ride it as part of the game’s Partner Skill, as well as feature great Active Skills you can use in the battlefield like Lightning Bolt and Lightning Strike. You can have it work well too in your base, as it has Handiwork, Lumbering, and Generating Electricity traits.

Location: It’s the first tower boss, found on the No.1 Wildlife Sanctuary Island on the map’s southern edge. Access this spot by riding a flying mount Pal or a swimming Pal. Bring a Ground type Pal to capture/defeat it.

Suzaku

Suzaku is a Fire Pal, and so far it’s the best element in the Palworld meta. Suzaku’s Partner Skill allows it to ride it and fly high on the map. Its active skill Fire Ball and Flare Storm can deal with most bosses in the game while you’re out there gunning for your life. For Work Suitability skills, it has Kindling Level 3.

Location: Suzaku is available throughout the desert area on the northeast part of the map. It’s a level 45 Field Alpha Boss. Better bring a good Water type Pal to capture it though.

Jetragon

Being a Dragon type Pal, Jetragon can be very useful late in the game if there are Dark Pals running about (since they’re weak to Dragon types). Jetragon has great Shot Attack stats (140) and the Aerial Missile Partner Skill, which lets you ride it as a mount AND fire rapid missiles at foes. Quite a killer combination, especially since it’s a pretty fast Pal to have!

Location: This Legendary Pal can be found on the volcanic region of the map in the west, north of the Beach of Everlasting Summer teleport point. Bring an Ice type Pal for combat if you wish to capture the thing.

Necromus

A great Dark Pal that’s useful in combat. You can use it as a mount as it has a useful double jump Partner Skill. Its Active Skills -Dark Laser, Twin Spears- make it a battle powerhouse when out in the field with you.

Location: This Legendary Pal is on the desert region of the map in the northeast. It’s northwest of the Deep Sand Dunes teleport area. Hope you have  Dragon type Pal to help you out in defeating/capturing this Pal.

We’ll be sure to add more of our top Palworld Pal picks as time goes by. For now, these are the ones to watch out for. If you want tips on how to capture these bad boys, head here.
