The Callisto Protocol Devs Announce Roguelike Action Game Project Birdseye

Publisher Krafton and developer Striking Distance Studios have officially announced a new roguelike action game titled Project Birdseye, although the game’s final name has yet to be determined.

The game has been in development by a small team at Striking Distance Studios, who have utilized their passion for the project to create a captivating experience set in the world of The Callisto Protocol’s infamous prison, Black Iron Prison. According to the devs, this setting has proven to be the perfect future-punk playground for the team’s vision.

Project Birdseye deviates from the main storyline of The Callisto Protocol, serving as a separate “side quest” that expands upon the game’s world. The game offers a comic book-like visual style with a unique overhead perspective, reminiscent of titles such as the critically acclaimed Hades. Despite this, Project Birdseye is not a direct sequel to The Callisto Protocol but rather a complementary experience that the team wanted to work on while expanding upon the universe.

Striking Distance Studios has clarified that the development of Project Birdseye will not affect the progress of its next triple-A title, which had been hinted at in the newly released trailer. The team’s main focus remains on delivering an exceptional gaming experience using Unreal Engine 5 of the unannounced triple-A project.

The early announcement of Project Birdseye is a way for Striking Distance Studios to gauge your interest in the game concept, just as it has resonated with the team during development. There is currently no release date or specific platforms confirmed for Project Birdseye, so fans and players are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates.
