The synopsis reads:

Created by Robert Kirkman (and artists Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley), Invincible revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson who learns that he has inherited incredible powers from his superhero alien father, Omni-Man. The comic series ran for 144 issues from 2003 to 2018, with many spinoffs and its own cohesive shared universe.

They Finally Adapt One Of The Comics’ Iconic Jokes But Changes It To Suit Animation

One of the most iconic jokes in the Invincible comics was actually quite early on in its run, issue #10. When Mark goes to meet his favourite comic book artist and that comic book artist reveals that he reuses his art in pages with the same panels for both dramatic effect and to save time/effort. This repeating panels in the same page trope is common in comics, which is why it’s so funny.

In Invincible Season 2 Episode 7, we get a version of that joke but adapted for animation instead; like how they “cut corners” by having the characters’ lips off-camera so they don’t have to animate their mouths or when they’re panning to wide shots without having to animate the characters.

Donald Tells Rick The Truth About Himself

This also happened in Invincible Issue #38 when Donald finally acknowledges how many times he’s died and been brought back to life while explaining that he understands what Rick is experiencing (Rick also died and came back to life as an android).

Anissa Finally Enters The Animated Series

This is the first time Mark meets a Viltrumite named Anissa. However, this doesn’t mean that SHOCKING moment will happen soon (comic book readers will know what I’m talking about), because that will happen later.

In the comics (Invincible Issue #44), his first meeting with Anissa involved Anissa threatening his mother, Debbie, not Amber.

Anissa Teases The Coming Of Conquest

Anissa warns that another Viltrumite is coming soon and that he will make the whole planet pay the price if Mark still hasn’t embraced his role in helping them conquer the planet.

Who is this other Viltrumite?

His name is Conquest and he will be one of the most powerful Viltrumites Mark will ever face.

Mark And Amber Break Up

It’s different from how it happens in the comics. In the comics, they break up because Mark develops feelings for Eve and Amber develops feelings for a guy named Gary. They break up in the comics on a mutually amicable note, which means that they essentially stay on good terms.

The animated series’ breakup is weirdly the conventional sad breakup, as Amber feels threatened after she was almost killed by Anissa (in the comics, this never happened because it was Mark’s mom who was threatened by Anissa). This is one instance where it was definitely better handled and written in the comics by Robert Kirkman.

Angstrom Levy Finally Makes His Move

After waiting for almost the entire season, Angstrom Levy finally makes his move against Mark.

Also, Allen The Alien pretends to be unconscious to infiltrate the Viltrumites.
