Embracer Shuts Down Piranha Bytes, The Developer Of Gothic & Risen

According to Polish and German sources, Piranha Bytes has allegedly been shut down. Apparently, the studio was officially shut down at the end of June 2024.

Piranha Bytes is a studio with decades of experience, developing game franchises such as Elex, Gothic and Risen. However, recently, it’s been owned by Embracer Group, which has been notorious for shutting down the developers and studios that it owns.  Just last month, Embracer shut down Alone In The Dark developer Pieces Interactive.

The last game developed and released by Piranha Bytes was Elex 2 in 2022 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
