The First Yakuza Game Finally Makes Its Way To The Nintendo Switch
SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will release the Like A Dragon series on the Nintendo Switch for the first time with Yakuza Kiwami on 24 October 2024.
Yakuza Kiwami was originally launched for PS3 and PS4 on 21 January 2016 in Japan, followed by English versions on PlayStation 4 in 2017, PC via Steam in 2019, and Xbox One in 2020.
To save his best friend, Kazuma Kiryu takes the fall for a crime he didn’t commit, and ends up with a 10-year prison sentence. After being released, Kiryu finds himself expelled from his yakuza family, and alone in a world he no longer recognizes. Events take a turn for the worse when 10 billion yen vanishes from the vault of the Tojo Clan, Kiryu’s former yakuza family, igniting a war in the red-light district of Kamurocho. Together with a mysterious girl named Haruka, Kiryu must fight to survive and uncover the truth hidden amidst the chaos surrounding them.
This will coincide with Prime Video’s Like A Dragon Yakuza, which will premiere on 25 October 2024 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The series is a live-action adaptation with an original story based on SEGA’s global hit game franchise, Yakuza: Like A Dragon. Directed by the critically acclaimed Masaharu Take, the series will feature Ryoma Takeuchi as the lead character, Kazuma Kiryu.
