Classic 90s JRPG Series LUNAR gets Remastered in 2025

After more than 25 years the LUNAR series debuted, GungHo Online Entertainment announced that they will release the LUNAR Remastered Collection for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam in spring of 2025.

The series gained popularity in the 1990s and is credited as one of the pioneering JRPGs that helped shape the genre. The remastered collection aims to introduce these iconic titles to a new generation of players while offering a nostalgic experience for longtime fans. It includes the classic LUNAR: Silver Star Story and LUNAR 2: Eternal Blue.

In Silver Star Story, players follow the story of Alex, an aspiring Dragonmaster, who bands together with his friends to combat the perilous emergence of the Magic Emperor and stop him from taking over the world.

Eternal Blue picks up a thousand years later and follows Hiro and his friends as they set out in search of the Goddess Althena alongside an enigmatic girl named Lucia. On this grand quest, they must fend off enemies like Borgan and White Knight Leo, who hunt down the group to eradicate what they deem to be the “Destroyer of Lunar.”

The remastered edition features enhanced graphics, audio, and quality-of-life improvements. It also includes updated language support, now available in English, Japanese, French, and German. Fans of the LUNAR series can expect 90s-esque animated cutscenes, classic JRPG characters, and old-school turn-based combat with a twist. The game’s romantic storytelling and stunning soundtrack, surely entice both JRPG enthusiasts and longtime fans of the series.
