Horizon Developer Kills Hope Of Any New Killzone Games
Guerrilla Games seems to have killed any hopes of a new game in the Killzone franchise. Fans of the gritty FPS franchise will probably be disappointed.
Speaking with the Washington Post, Guerrilla Games art director Roy Postma said that they basically created the Horizon franchise to be the replacement and complete opposite of the Killzone franchise.
He said:
“We were done with it as a team. As a studio, we needed to refresh the palette. It was, by choice, the opposite of Killzone.
I think the themes that this story and the characters represent are relatable for all ages and people, like having a found family of friends and finding your place in the world.
We came from making smaller games and games for children. Making people laugh when they play the game, that was new for us.”
The Horizon franchise began with 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn and continued with 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West. Their next game is LEGO Horizon Adventures, which is being made in collaboration with Britain-based Studio Gobo.
Meanwhile, the Killzone franchise began in 2004 with the first Killzone and went on to spawn six games in all, including sequels and spinoffs. The last game in the franchise was 2012’s Killzone Shadow Fall for the PS4.
