Netflix’s Asterix & Obelix The Big Fight Animated Series Gets Hilarious First Trailer
Netflix has unveiled a teaser trailer for the upcoming Asterix & Obelix The Big Fight, a French-language animated series based on the popular comic book franchise Asterix & Obelix by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo that is set for release sometime in spring 2025.
Alain Chabat, writer and director of the blockbuster 2002 live-action hit Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, created the series and is directing it with Fabrice Joubert. It is produced by Alain Goldman and from animation studio TAT Productions.
The synopsis reads:
Rome is desperate to conquer the last independent village in Gaul and the home of Asterix and Obelix. The secret to the Gauls’ battle superiority is a magic potion, but when the potion master loses his memory, the villagers are left to their own devices against the might of Rome.
Asterix originally debuted in October 1959 in the French magazine Pilote, created by Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Since then, the series then went on to surpass more than 380 million copies sold worldwide and translated into more than 100 international languages.
The Asterix comic book series features the titular Asterix as its protagonist, a small but brave warrior in one of the only small towns in 50 B.C. era Gaul free from Roman occupation. They’re able to repel the invaders with the help of a magic potion that gives him super strength. However, the effects are temporary, so the threat still looms whenever the Romans attack. Along with his chubby best friend Obelix and loyal dog Dogmatix, they go on adventures and try to put a stop to the Roman Empire.
