Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Races Past Its Predecessor With New Box Office Milestone

SEGA has announces that the film Sonic The Hedgehog 3, produced by SEGA of America, Inc. and Paramount Pictures Corporation, has outperformed the US$405 million record set by Sonic The Hedgehog 2 by grossing over US$446.6 million in the global box office, making it the highest grossing Sonic film to date.

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, the Sonic the Hedgehog film series tells the story of the world’s fastest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. After its release in American theaters on December 20, 2024, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 grossed US$60.1M in its opening weekend (December 20–22), making it the number 1 film in the US box office. Globally, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 went on to achieve its highest opening weekend to date, topping the box office in 30 countries, including the United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy, Australia, Poland, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, the Philippines, Panama, and Argentina.
