Thunderbolts Super Bowl Trailer Breakdown: Marvel’s Superman AKA Sentry & The Void

During the Super Bowl 2025, Marvel Studios released a new trailer for their upcoming Thunderbolts movie.

It reveals two significant things:

Our First Look At The Sentry

Robert ‘Bob’ Reynolds AKA The Sentry will make his MCU debut in Thunderbolts, played by actor Lewis Pullman.

In the comics, The Sentry is a complicated character. He’s basically like Superman meets Shazam, and is said to have the power of a million exploding suns.

However, there is a dark side to his powers. His mind is like Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, so he is mentally unstable. The evil side is controlled by an evil entity called the Void. He was one of the main villains in the crossover storyline, Siege.

It looks like the MCU’s version of the Sentry is also extremely strong, being able to easily rip off Bucky AKA the WInter Soldier’s Vibranium arm.

We also see a darkness spreading throughout the city. This must be the Void taking over the Sentry and spreading his darkness. You read it right here first, from the ComicsLord.

This is definitely an Avengers-level threat if this is really the Void. It took almost everyone to finally stop the Void in the comics (during the 2010 Siege crossover). Not even the Avengers could defeat him.

Bucky AKA The Winter Soldier Is Forcing The Thunderbolts To Help Him Take Down The Sentry

So, they will be trying to take down the Sentry together.

Also, Avengers Tower is now officially owned by Valentina Allegra De Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

Thunderbolts premieres in cinemas in May 2025.
