The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales – How To Get The True Ending

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a new Square Enix and Team Asano-made Zelda-like title that hits all the right notes: gameplay, combat, puzzles, exploration, time-travelling, and story that uncovers its layers over time. It has an annoying talking fairy problem, but hopefully Square Enix can patch that up post-launch.

What the game offers as well are multiple endings. As you play through the game and follow the objectives and hints, you fight what seems to be the final boss in the North Tower in the Age of Safekeeping. You get an ending, but it clearly isn’t the real one as it’s Bronze-coloured. So you explore more of the game and the Eras, doing quests and attempting to uncover more history of the world in hopes of finding a true conclusion.

Here’s a guide on how to do so. Since we’re dealing with endgame content, there will be spoilers aplenty, so you’ve been warned.

How To Get The Regular (Silver) Ending

This ending requires you to get a special weapon that can seal the main bad guy. Here’s what you need to do:

-Explore each different Era so you can trigger story content for the following characters, as well as meet each different cat sage. Talk to the cat fan in town for clues in each era:

  • Age of Reconstruction/Littlehope: Heurich, Diona. You will go through an endurance battle, then directed to go to Mount Phoenix to get to the cat sage.
  • Age of Budding/Hitoyori: Lyudmilla, Mao. You’ll then be directed to Grandtree for the cat sage.
  • Age of Magic/Weyzn: You will do three event battles against mechas. Then you’ll gain access to the Geared Ruins dungeon for the third sage.

-You will be tasked to get the Leytstaff Sword from the Water Ruins in the Age of Reconstruction.

-Once you’re done with that, head back to the Northern Tower in the Age of Safekeeping. Fight the last boss, but when it’s close to death, use the sword’s full charge attack to seal it. Protip: add Sword Magicite that shortens sword charge times for better and consistent access to the Mystic Seal attack.

How To Get To The True (Gold) Ending Path

-You have to play out ALL Mao/Myu storylines in the Age of Budding, the Age of Magic, and the Age of Reconstruction. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Age of Budding
    • Head to Lyudmila’s house, and you’ll be tasked to go to Dragonpillar for a scene. You’ll then be sent to Grandtree for a boss fight. Simply follow the events after this, which leads to dramatic scenes in Hitoyori.
  • Age of Magic
    • Head to Mao’s house to get Mao’s Pendant, then head to Northern Tower in this age. After events at the tower, head to Southern Caves – Western Edge guidepost, which leads to an escort event. After this, return to the Northern Tower basement for more dramatic scenes.
  • Age of Reconstruction
    • Here, head to Mao’s house for scenes. Proceed with the events with the doctor, grabbing the medicine he requests. Eventually, you’ll be tasked with heading to Huther.
  • Age of Safekeeping
    • You’ll see a scene at the city entrance, in the throne room, and then at the Eldertree. You will then have to find out info on how to save Mao; talk to key people you met in different Eras. After this, be sure to grab the Amber Pendant from Princess Heuria’s room (ignore the quest marker during this portion as it’s wrong).

-Fight the “last boss” at the North Tower again; if Mao is mentioned before entering the tower, you’re on the way to the True Ending.

-To defeat the “last boss”, parry all their melee attacks with your MirrorMoon Shield until the battle ends.

-After that heartwarming scene with Mao, play out the rest of the game until the end.

-The game will have you talking to the three cat sages again. After the many scenes leading to the castle, you then head off to Mount Phoenix for the endgame.
