Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Will Not Have Loot Boxes

We’re less than two weeks away from the release of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare and developer Infinity Ward has finally clarified one important thing about the upcoming game. The game won’t feature any loot boxes whatsoever unlike 2017’s Call Of Duty WW2.

This was confirmed by Infinity Ward’s Joel Emslie, who posted the following on Reddit:

“Sigh.

There continues to be misinformed and incorrect info being pushed about Modern Warfare.

What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system.

Also, functional stuff is unlocked through GAMEPLAY.

Stay tuned, we’re planning to release info this week.”

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare won’t have loot boxes, it may still feature the Call of Duty Points virtual currency from previous games. Players will be able to buy these with real money to spend them on cosmetic items like weapon skins and emotes, that don’t affect gameplay.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare is slated to release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 25 October 2019.
