RIP Syd Mead, The Designer Behind Blade Runner & Tron

Legendary concept artist and futurist Syd Mead has passed away at the age of 86 (via Curbed).

Without his vision, we wouldn’t be getting the timeless look of Blade Runner and Tron to this day. Heck, he also did Star Trek, Aliens, Elysium, and even Gundam. His futurist and corporate artist work also led him to create illustrations and his clean vision of the future for companies like Ford and Philips.

His works have also influenced countless other artists, designers, and creators into creating their own sci-fi universes and high concept ideas. They wouldn’t be creating their own version of the Blade Runner spinner and the Tron lightcycles were it not for Syd Mead.
