World’s First 8TB Portable SSD Looks Good For Gaming

Let’s be honest: we all invest a bit in SSD storage nowadays for our gaming, be it for PC or for consoles. And who wouldn’t want one that’s not just 8TB full of space and also pocket-sized?

SanDisk has got you covered with its world’s first 8TB portable SSD (their words, not ours) announced at this year’s CES. While it’s still a prototype and there’s no info about its transfer speed and whatnot, it looks good to ship this year since SSD tech has been around for a long while and SanDisk is renowned for this line of storage products.

The big question here is how much will it cost. Given that most external 2TB SSD units cost between US$270 and US$350 on average, we can make an educated guess: US$1,000 and higher.

We highly doubt that anyone would shell out US$1,000 for an SSD in the retail market, but stranger things have happened. Especially if it’s a fast SSD with 2,500MB/s bandwidth transfer rate. Just think of how fast your digital version of Red Dead Redemption 2 will load on this bad boy.
