Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Is Dropping This July

It’s more than a year since Netflix officially renewed The Umbrella Academy for a second season, but the streaming giant has finally announced the release date for the highly-anticipated second season to TV series adaptation based on Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s comics of the same name.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 is slated to release on 31 July 2020. The news was announced via a special video featuring the main cast members (consisting of Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, and Ellen Page) recreating the first season’s iconic “I Think We’re Alone Now” dance scene from the comfort of their own homes.

The Umbrella Academy Season 1 showrunner Steve Blackman is back for the second season, as well as series creators (and co-executive producers) Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba. The Umbrella Academy Season 2 will feature 10 episodes just like the first season.

The Umbrella Academy was a success due to its meta nature and exploration of dysfunctional family themes, as well as offering a unique take on the superhero genre.

While we still haven’t received a release date for The Umbrella Academy Season 2, here’s what you can probably expect from The Umbrella Academy next season.
