India has banned PUBG Mobile, Alipay, Baidu and more, for a total of 118 Chinese apps, This comes only a month since the Indian government was rumoured to be considering banning PUBG Mobile after having banned other Chinese apps such as TikTok and Mobile Legends.

In a statement (via Nikkei Asian Review), the Indian government said that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology received complaints about the misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms “for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India.”

The statement continued:

“The compilation of these data, its mining and profiling by elements hostile to national security and defence of India, which ultimately impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures.”

The conflict between India and China is escalating, negatively impacting everything, including the games industry. India was the top market for PUBG Mobile, generating about 175 million installs to date, or 24 percent of the game’s total downloads in the world, according to app market intelligence company Sensor Tower.
