Vikings Season 6 Final Episodes To Premiere Later This Month

The last 10 episodes of Vikings‘ sixth and final season will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime on 30 December 2020 before it debuts on the History Channel.

Vikings creator and writer Michael Hirst said (via Entertainment Weekly):

“Our monumental Vikings saga is coming to its conclusion, but not before you’ve had to chance to watch some of my all-time favourite episodes.

Prime Video will uniquely expose the series finale to a streaming audience first.

Prepare to be astonished, and for many surprises along the way.

And if you have tears to shed, then also be prepared to shed them.”

The first episodes of season 6 finished with a battle between the Rus and Vikings for control of Norway. Betrayed by his brother Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen), Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) was left for dead on the battlefield, but his fate was left ambiguous and vague.

The official synopsis reads:

“While in Iceland, Ubbe is determined to fulfil his father Ragnar’s dream and sail further west than any Viking has travelled before. And there is unfinished business in England.

The Vikings have established settlements there, and over-run most of the country – except for Wessex.

The King of Wessex, Alfred the Great, is the only Saxon ruler to seriously challenge their complete domination.

Ivar the Boneless must again face, in battle, the King he only knew as a boy for a final reckoning.”

Hirst is already working onto production on a sequel series titled Vikings Valhalla for Netflix, as well as a limited series about the bubonic plague in 17th century London for History Channel.
