We Rate The Popular Landing Spots in Black Ops IIII’s Blackout

Lighthouse
Situated at the southern-most tip of the map, the Lighthouse, like Asylum is a goldmine when it comes to loot moreover when zombies occupy it. However, it is one of the least popular spots for players to land on, considering the limited option once you’re done clearing up the area.
The run up to mainland is a mad dash of avoiding sniper fire, and worse, if the circle collapses towards the northern side of the map. Failure to locate any form of vehicles will put you in a tight spot as you almost literally have to go through all the hot locations on the map to get anywhere.
Pros:
- Good looting spot
- High chance of not being shot in the back as you progress further into the map
Cons:
- You’re in everyone’s plain sight as you leave the Lighthouse
- Totally vulnerable if there are no quadbike or raft spawning outside of the Lighthouse.
Our Tip:
- Land at the top of the lighthouse for a quick loot run, before exiting via gliding to the northern side of the map, wrapping around towards the houses at the nearby intersection keeps you out of harm’s way
Train Station
The train station is our favorite landing spot due to its terrain whereby players are able to spot approaching enemies from almost every angle. By studying the minimap, you can anticipate the entrance points from almost every angle.
This makes this landing spot one of the few locations that tick all the boxes: good looting, ample hiding area while at the same time providing adequate cover.
Pros:
- Great looting spot
- Multiple vantage points to set up a sniper’s nest
- Recommended location for both quiet and hot drops
Cons:
- Open areas between the Train Station and Rivertown, Hydro Dam and Firing Range might be tricky in case you have to pull off a hot exit
- Players are highly susceptible of being jumped upon during looting
Our Tip:Â
- Trucks and quad bikes tend to spawn near the northern entrance of the train station allowing for quick, last ditch getaways
- The tunnel on the southern side of the tracks lead straight through the hill and exits nearby Rivertown.
ArrayÂ
Despite being almost smack in the middle of the map, Array – surprisingly, is rarely the spot for hot drops. And even if you spot several other players landing nearby, most will take the cautious option of dashing into the many buildings in the area rather than engaging immediately. Take this opportunity to take good vantage points for opportunistic kills.
Pros:
- Multiple decent loot spots
- Several decent vantage points
- Surrounding trees make good cover for emergency exits
Cons:
- The trees surrounding the area make good cover for approaching enemies – ha!
- Situated in the middle of the most popular drop spots on the map; Nuketown, Firing Range and Construction Site
Our Tip:
- The roof of the large white building can be accessed via ladder and is the perfect sniper’s nest
Rivertown
Similar to Array, Rivertown is surrounded by several hot spots such as Train Station, Firing Range and Fracking Tower. The buildings and clouded windows are perfect ambush locations and this is our favourite spot to set up traps and catch unsuspecting opponents who thought they were alone. It goes both ways though.
Pros:
- Ambush central
Cons:
- Ambushed central
Our Tip:Â
- Avoid at all costs. Only enter the buildings if you are really, really desperate for loot
