The Avengers Project Site Updated: Announcement Teased for the Game Awards?

Remember Square Enix‘s The Avengers Project? Not much has been revealed about the ambitious Marvel game since it was initially announced in early 2017.

However, the game now has a page and description on co-developer Crystal Dynamics‘ official website, which was added in a recent update.

The page opens with a press release that confirms several details about The Avengers Project. These include:

  • Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix have confirmed that The Avengers Project will only be the beginning of a “multi-year, multi-game licensing agreement to develop and publish original games based on beloved Marvel Super Heroes.”
  • The Avengers Project will be developed by both Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.
  • The upcoming game will feature a “completely original story” and introduce a “universe” of its own.

Besides that, two Marvel Games employees have recently tweeted that their work has been great and they can’t wait to share some news with everyone. That definitely sounds like they’re teasing an announcement. Check out the tweets below. (Interestingly, Eric Monacelli is the former Project Lead for Insomniac’s Spider-Man and the current one for The Avengers Project)

Let’s rewind a bit and look at the description of The Avengers Project Announcement Trailer, which stated that “more details on The Avengers project and other games will be announced in 2018.” It’s already near the end of 2018 and this is the first update we’ve received for the game thus far.

However, we still have about two months left to go before 2018 ends and 2019 begins. It can’t be a coincidence that those two Marvel Games employees tweeted near-identical posts on the same day. The Game Awards 2018 is coming up soon, and it’s already promising the “biggest lineup of new game announcements yet.”

That would probably be the most opportune time for an official first look at The Avengers Project, especially with the event slated to stream live on approximately 40 global video platforms.

Let’s see what happens when December 6 arrives. In the meantime, you can re-watch The Avengers Project Announcement Trailer. Stay tuned on Kakuchopurei!
