Japan & Red Bull’s Gachikun Wins Capcom Cup 2018 Despite Fizzled Reveal

Capcom Cup 2018 is over and done with. Even with the horrid-looking sponsored content aesthetics, the FGC scene is still looking as strong as ever.

Every set went to the final game; that was how nail-biting this particular Capcom Cup tournament was. Even if some of us aren’t feeling the game, it did produce some stellar matches.

Here’s the full top 10 list.

1. RB|Gachikun (Rashid)
2. DNG|Itabashi Zangief (Abigail)
3. FD|Fujimura (Ibuki)
4. RZR|Xian (Ibuki)
5. FOX|Justin Wong (Menat)
5. RB|Bonchan (Karin, Nash)
7. NASR|AngryBird (Zeku)
7. Momochi (Kolin, Zeku, Ken)
9. Chris Tatarian (Ken)
9. Rise|Caba (Guile)

The Top Plays

Justin Wong may have been 5th, but he did his best with Menat’s “lame” style.

Xian held it out as long as he could in the top 8 fights. He eliminated Bonchan in his bout.

Heck, Xian even tried really hard against the world’s best Abigail player. But in the end, the big man’s extra HP is detrimental to a rushdown character like Ibuki.

Gachikun found an answer against Itabashi’s Abigail: interrupt attacks! The grand finals was crazy, to say the least.

Announcements? We’ve Got A Few…

Kage_Pic.png

  • Thanks to a leak an hour or so ago before the Grand Finals, we now know Kage is available now in his demoney flavour goodness. He’s basically an amped-up Evil Ryu with a lot of combos and crazy teleporting V-Trigger shenanigans.
  • New balance changes and battle updates. Check them all out here.
  • And…that’s it, really. No epic Season 3 character reveals trailer. Just one new character who was leaked ahead of time.

Guess we’ll have to wait for more news regarding Season 4 later next month.
