Philippines’ Team Liyab Is All Set For League Of Legends SEA National Qualifiers
By Alleef Ashaari|March 22, 2019|2 Comments
Team Liyab is the official esports team of Globe Telecom and Mineski, and they’re all set to compete for a shot at representing the Philippines at League Of Legends SEA Tour Finals in Vietnam next month.
In order to do that, they will be competing with three other local teams at the League of Legends SEA National Minor in a best-of-3, single elimination bracket tournament. So far, Team Liyab has been undefeated in the National Qualifiers.
Other recent Team Liyab victories include the Mogul Silver Slam that took place in February 2019, in which they were champions and took home P80,000 in cash, and dominating the group stages Philippine Pro Gaming League (PPGL), beating other teams like Imperium Pro Team, ISC, and Arkangel.
If they win in the upcoming League of Legends SEA National Minor, Team Liyab will advance to National Major and compete against League of Legends teams from Singapore/Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
In other related news, Globe Telecom recently opened its first esports center in the Philippines, with the goal of continuing to support the development of esports in the country, as well as hone the skills of future esports athletes. Read the full story here.
