CD Projekt Red has previously teased and skirted around the possibility of multiplayer in their highly-anticipated upcoming  RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. Now we know that it will eventually be coming to the game, according to a tweet by the developer’s official Twitter account earlier today.

The Polish developer plans to first release Cyberpunk 2077 on 16 April 2020 as intended, followed by free DLC updates and single-player content. It is stated that only after all that is done will multiplayer finally arrive in the game at an unspecified release date/window.

2/2 The plan for now is to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in April, then follow up with DLCs (free!) and single player content, and — once we’re done — invite you for some multiplayer action.

Due to the vague nature of the tweet and the fact that all of the titles in The Witcher franchise featured no multiplayer at all, we have no idea what to expect from Cyberpunk 2077‘s multiplayer. It could likely come in the form of typical first-person shooter modes like solo/team deathmatch, capture the flag or even a battle royale free-for-all.

April 2020 is still more than half a year away, so perhaps we’ll learn about Cyberpunk 2077′s multiplayer closer to the game’s release date. In the meantime, re-watch the recently-released Cyberpunk 2077 deep-dive gameplay video.
