Discord Is Pulling The Plug On Their Free Games Program
By Burhanudin Zamri|September 17, 2019|0 Comment
When Discord first launched its Nitro premium subscriber program, one of the biggest selling points was unlimited access to a library of selected indie and AAA games. Surprisingly, it’s turned out that most subscribers haven’t really touched those games.
In their latest blog post, Discord has announced that they won’t be renewing the contracts to keep those games playable in the Nitro program due to the lackluster response. The team has promised to refund subscription fees to those dissuaded by this change.
“We learned a lot from all of you over the last year. Through your valuable feedback, it became clear that while we and some of you love these games, the truth is the vast majority of Nitro subscribers didn’t play them.”
To compensate for the removal of this major feature, several other features in the Nitro program will be adjusted since the subscription fees will remain the same. One of them is the reduction of number of boosts needed for a server to reach Level 3 – from 50 to 20.
Current Nitro subscribers will still have access to the games until 15 October 2019. Any games purchased through the app and Nitro Game Perks will remain unaffected.
