Netflix’s Daybreak Looks Like Fallout Set In High School

What happens when you mix a little bit of the Fallout games and the Mad Max movies into a high school coming-of-age story? You get Daybreak, a new Netflix Original series that follows an eclectic group of survivors (who happen to be high school kids) as they navigate the post-apocalyptic city of Glendale, California.
Instead of bloodthirsty cannibals and weird cults, the world in Daybreak is populated by marauding gangs of jocks, gamers, the 4-H Club, and other fearsome high school tribes as they fight to survive in the wake of a nuclear blast, which coincidentally happened on the night of their Homecoming event.
From the looks of the trailer, we’re getting all the hallmarks of good post-apocalyptic fare, as everyone is wearing and wielding makeshift armour and weapons. We should probably be prepared for some high school drama and romance as well.
It’s actually based on the graphic novel or comic book of the same name by Brian Ralph. Three volumes were released in 2006, 2007, and 2008 by publishing company Bodega Distribution, with the most recent release in 2011 by publisher Drawn and Quarterly.
