Here’s Your First Official Look At Nightwing’s Costume From Titans
By Alleef Ashaari|November 22, 2019|0 Comment
Fans have been waiting almost two entire seasons for former Robin Dick Grayson to take up the mantle of Nightwing on the DC Universe exclusive series Titans. That’s not even mentioning comic book fans who have been waiting for a live-action version of the character for years.
For context, Dick Grayson first became Nightwing more than three decades ago in Tales of the Teen Titans #44 published in July 1984. In Titans, he will embrace his new mantle in the upcoming final episode of season 2, aptly titled “Nightwing”, which will be releasing on 29 November 2019.
Well, fans, feast your eyes on the official Nightwing suit from Titans below, in all its glory.
It looks pretty good if I do say so myself. However, all that heavy armour and padding may be counter-intuitive to the fact that Dick Grayson favours flexibility and the ability to flex his acrobatic skills in combat, which he’ll probably have a problem with when wearing such a suit.
The comic book version of the costume is inspired by what a real acrobat would wear, in order to maximize one’s acrobatic flexibility. If it’s armoured and padded, it’ll just weigh him down.
On why it took so long for Dick Grayson to become Nightwing on Titans, showrunner Greg Walker said, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“It’s a personal journey that he needs to go on.
So he goes on this atonement journey in the last third of the season, trying to figure out who he is and what his relationship to heroism is and what his relationship is to the other Titans.
That’s what we were going for the whole time.
We felt like we needed to think about it on a character level rather than having him show up and be like, ‘Awesome suit, right?’â€
