LoL G2 Vs SKT Worlds Semis Is The Most-Watched Esports Event Of 2019 So Far
By Alleef Ashaari|November 4, 2019|0 Comment
Last weekend, two League Of Legends juggernauts clashed in the League of Legends Worlds 2019 semifinals, G2 Esports of Europe and SK Telecom T1 of South Korea. The epic match ended with G2 emerging victorious 3-1 over SKT, with a record-breaking number of concurrent viewers almost reaching four million (3,985,787).
The number of concurrent viewers was split between Twitch and YouTube, but it is still a very impressive feat, the likes of which has never been seen. The League Of Legends Worlds 2019 semifinals between G2 and SKT is now the most-watched esports event of all-time, beating even the previous record set by the Fortnite World Cup earlier this year with 2.3 million concurrent viewers.
according to EsportsCharts G2’s victory over SKT in the LoL Worlds semifinals today peaked at just under FOUR MILLION concurrent viewers (3,985,787) across Twitch and YouTube!
this makes it the most watched esports/competitive gaming event of all time not including China

Now we’ll have to see if the upcoming League Of Legends Worlds 2019 grand finals between G2 Esports and FunPlus Phoenix of China on 10 November 2019 will be able to surpass the record achieved by the semifinals. With this year’s iteration of the event turning out to be bigger than ever before, there’s a high chance of that happening.
In comparison, Dota 2 The International 2019‘s highest concurrent viewer peak was under two million (1,968,497), which is only half of what the League Of Legends Worlds 2019 semifinals between G2 and SKT managed to accrue. According to statistics provided by Esports Charts, the records for highest peak of concurrent viewers have always belonged to the LoL Worlds tournaments over the years.
