The Best VPN Choices To Watch That Cool Star Wars Western On Disney Plus
By Alleef Ashaari|November 14, 2019|2 Comments
The Walt Disney Company’s exclusive streaming service Disney Plus (or Disney+) has already launched in the US, Canada and the Netherlands on 12 November 2019, with Australia and New Zealand to follow suit on 19 November 2019. It boasts existing and new original content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.
However, there is no official word yet on when or even if Disney Plus will be arriving in other parts of the world. Analysts’ predict that the streaming service could be launching in Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, etc.) in 2021.
With shows like Star Wars spinoff The Mandalorian (check out our review of the first episode here) and a lot more to come, I’m sure you won’t want to wait a year or two for Disney Plus to officially launch where you are.
Fortunately, there is a somewhat legal way for anyone who lives outside those initial launch countries to subscribe to Disney Plus: through the use of VPNs that allows one to bypass those regional restrictions.
VPNs (virtual private networks) work by routing your traffic through servers in another country, changing your IP address and tricking streaming platforms into allowing you access. They also encrypt your traffic, so that your employer, Internet Service Provider (ISP) or government won’t be able to see what you’re doing online.
While there are free VPNs available out there, it is recommended that you subscribe and pay for the premium ones that come with a subscription fee. These ensure better service and security, as well as a certain level of reliability.
So far, the best VPN for Disney Plus is arguably ExpressVPN (also vouched for by our friends at Amanz).
Here’s what you need to do to subscribe to the VPN and gain access to Disney Plus:
If you encounter problems with using a local credit or debit card while trying to pay for the Disney Plus subscription, you can try creating a US PayPal account (by using your VPN) and using that as a payment method instead.
If that doesn’t work, another method is by creating a US Google account (by using your VPN) and using that to subscribe to Disney Plus.
Other alternative VPN choices for Disney Plus include:
There you have it, folks. A somewhat legal way for you to access Disney Plus unless you prefer to follow in the footsteps of Captain Jack Sparrow in the meantime.
