Torchlight Frontiers Is Now Called Torchlight III; Also On Steam

So remember that early access-slash-alpha-state title Torchlight Frontiers action RPG game that’s been around for a while? It’s now turning into the true successor of past Torchlight games.

Now dubbed Torchlight III, the game will now undergo a major shift in its design and approach. For starters, it’ll be sold as a premium title, price tag and all. Also, the game will be available on PC via Steam.

Based on the latest gameplay trailer so far, the game retains its isometric hack-and-slash roots and its loot-and-kill gameplay from past Torchlight titles. The team from Echtra Inc. also stated the following:

  • They will continue developing the game with constant feedback from our community through Closed Alpha (and soon Beta!) testing.
  • They will continue releasing updates over the course of testing. Update 10 is coming Wednesday, January 29 at 10am PT. and brings the complete refactor into linear Acts, a third Frontier area, a fourth playable class, and a whole bunch of other new features and content.
  • They plan to release the game on PC in 2020, with a console release following shortly after.
  • They will continue to support the game with ongoing content updates post-launch.
  • The classes, game content, features and collectibles that have been shown in Closed Alpha will all stay in the game.

This is essentially good news for action RPG and Diablo fans, since the Torchlight series is run by the same folks who made Diablo and Diablo II. As for me, I’m hankering to replay Torchlight II in the near future. Maybe on Facebook Live.
