Ben Affleck Left The Batman Due To Troubled Justice League Production
By Alleef Ashaari|February 19, 2020|0 Comment
Ben Affleck was supposed to write, produce, direct and star in The Batman. However, it wasn’t meant to be, as he announced his departure from the project back in 2017 and 2019, after citing scripting issues.
However, it turns out that he was already disillusioned and mentally fatigued from the troubled production of 2017’s Justice League. That awful experience was why he looked so sombre during the Justice League press tour.
In an interview with The New York Times, Affleck said:
“I showed somebody ‘The Batman’ script.
They said, ‘I think the script is good.
I also think you’ll drink yourself to death if you go through what you just went through again.’â€
For those unaware, Affleck has suffered from several bouts of alcoholism throughout his life. This ultimately resulted in his divorce from Jennifer Garner.
It’s a shame. In this writer’s opinion, Ben Affleck was great in the roles of both Batman and Bruce Wayne, which not many other actors can boast of. Being in a bad movie like Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice or Justice League wasn’t his fault.
He currently has four movies slated for 2020; co-starring in Deep Water with Ana De Armas (Knives Out), reuniting with Matt Damon for The Last Duel, and sports drama movie The Way Back. His next one is The Last Thing He Wanted, which will premiere on Netflix on 21 February 2020.
