PlatinumGames Would Love To Finish Scalebound If Given The Chance Again

Remember that Xbox One exclusive Scalebound? No, you didn’t, because that open-world action-adventure game from PlatinumGames was cancelled three years ago because both the company and Microsoft were at fault for not delivering what was needed.

“I think there are areas where we could’ve done better and I’m sure there are areas that Microsoft as a publishing partner wish that they could’ve done better. Because nobody wants a game to be canceled.” – PlatinumGames head Atsushi Inaba.

Well, that may change if the studio that made Bayonetta and Vanquish are given the opportunity to return to past projects. According to a Eurogamer Portugal interview, PlatinumGames would love to return to the cancelled IP, but since Microsoft owns it, they can’t do much at this point.

“Again, it’s a good question! But this was an intellectual property that belongs 100% to Microsoft. Whatever happens with this project, we can’t really do anything with it unless Microsoft leaves us. But it’s a game that we fall in love with and love. If the opportunity arises, it’s something we would love to return to.”

Thanks to the company’s recent investment from Tencent, the company wants to self-publish its titles across multiple platforms, starting with The Wonderful 101.
