[Rumour] Sony Looking To Buy Metal Gear, Silent Hill & Castlevania IP From Konami
By Alleef Ashaari|March 16, 2020|0 Comment
Konami was a giant back in the earlier generations of gaming. However, they have since resorted to more lucrative pachinko games and the like instead of making full use of their existing great IPs like Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Castlevania. That could change soon.
It seems like Sony Interactive Entertainment is looking to purchase those IPs from Konami, according to a now-deleted 4Chan post by an anonymous user who claims to be a Konami employee.
The post states that Sony wants to remake the first two Metal Gear Solid titles with Hideo Kojima involved and reboot Castlevania with Shutaro Iida and Koji Igarashi into a Soulsborne-like game, as well as reboot Silent Hill with Keiichiro Toyama, Masahiro Ito, and even Ikumi Nakamura.
While a 4Chan post may not seem like a credible source, sources from Jack Of All Controllers and Rely On Horror have apparently verified the rumour. However, this should all still be taken with a grain of salt, as neither Konami or Sony have confirmed or denied it yet.
If true, this is exciting news for the next generation of gaming, as the world gears up for the PS5. New PS5 exclusives from the Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Castlevania franchises would be a huge selling-point for Sony’s new console. In the meantime, stay tuned on Kakuchopurei.
