New Soul Sneak Peek Teases Jazzy Goodness With First Song
By Alleef Ashaari|June 29, 2020|0 Comment
Disney Pixar’s Soul was supposed to premiere this month, but it was delayed to later this year on account of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. To soothe our souls (so to speak), Disney Pixar has released a new sneak peek trailer showcasing the first song from the upcoming animated movie.
The brief one-minute sneak peek offers us our first listen of the song Parting Ways; written, produced and performed by Cody ChesnuTT. Meanwhile, American anthropologist/educator Dr. Johnnetta Cole and globally-renowned jazz pianist Jon Batiste (who also lent his expertise to the jazz arrangements and musical compositions in Soul) also serve as cultural consultants on the movie.
Soul follows Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx); a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before; a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth.
Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul simply named 22 (Tina Fey), who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.
Directed by Academy Award winner Pete Docter (Inside Out and Up) and Kemp Powers (One Night in Miami), Disney Pixar’s Soul is slated to premiere on 19 November 2020. In the meantime, check out the sneak peek trailer below.
