Arma 3 Apex’s New Scenario Lets You Be A Badass Old Man

A new – and free -  singleplayer scenario has been added to Arma 3‘s Apex DLC. It’s titled  Old Man, and will put you in the role of a retiree called back into action.

The premise of this 10-hour long open-world scenario is that the South Pacific island of Tanoa has been hit by a new Malaria strain, with the government failing to deliver a vaccine. While all this is going on, your character, a former Legionnaire in the French Foreign Legion, hears of a plot and joins forces with a former military contact to stop it.

“An old man, in a job where men die young… Well, that is not a man you wanna mess with,” says the trailer’s voiceover.

It’s a familiar B-movie-type plot where, albeit delivered within the framework of Bohemia Interactive’s military sim than a Hollywood movie. “The new scenario drops you into Tanoa’s 100 square kilometer tropical terrain with just a few instructions,” says the blog post.

“It’s up to you to find your way around, gather intel, obtain weapons and equipment, and decide on the best tactics to accomplish objectives.

While the scenario aims to offer an authentic experience, you do have access to a few convenience features, such as the option to wait and skip time, and the ability to fast travel between known safe houses.”

If you want to (try to) be a badass old man in a military sim but don’t own Arma 3 and/or Apex, Bohemia is having an Arma 3 sale on both Steam and its own store right now. Both Arma 3 and Apex are 70 percent off on Steam, making them RM35.70 and RM23.70, respectively.

In addition, the Old Man beta was originally released via Steam Workshop, so Bohemia recommends that you unsubscribe from it to prevent compatibility issues with the new release.
