Does The PS5 DualSense Controller Have A Headphone Jack?
By Alleef Ashaari|April 9, 2020|0 Comment
Yesterday, Sony PlayStation finally unveiled the official PS5 DualSense controller, confirming several new features about the new next-gen controller. However, the company didn’t explicitly mention anything about whether an important and frequently-used feature from the PS4’s DualShock 4 will be returning;
The 3.5mm headphone audio jack.
In the official images seen so far, it does look like a visible audio jack is there at the bottom of the controller, but it could also possibly be something else.
PlayStation product manager Toshimasa Aoki has confirmed on his personal Twitter account that:
Yes, the PS5 DualSense controller does indeed have an audio jack.
Still have an audio jack so you can plug in your own headsets like DS4

You may be asking, why is the headphone jack so important when the PS5 DualSense controller already has a built-in microphone? Well, it allows players to plug a compatible gaming headset into their controller, so they’re not forced to buy new and expensive wireless ones.
The fact that the PS5 DualSense controller has an audio jack means that players can probably continue to use their existing gaming headsets with the PS5, especially since Sony is hyping the next-gen console’s immersive Tempest 3D audio so much.
While we’re still waiting to hear if this new 3D audio tech on the PS5 will work on all headsets or earphones, at least for now, gamers can be safely-assured that they will still be able to plug in headsets into the new PS5 DualSense controllers later this year.
