Classic Run-And-Gun Alien Hominid HD Is Coming Consoles & PC Later This Year

Developer The Behemoth has announced a classic run-and-gun game, Alien Hominid HD is slated to launch for modern platforms later this year.

Alien Hominid HD is an upcoming remake of the side-scrolling indie flash game that was originally released on the popular flash-based content website Newgrounds in 2002. The game then was ported to PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance. An HD version has since been launched on Xbox 360 — making it the only way to play it on modern systems today.

Alien Hominid received critical acclaim for its gameplay, animations, and comically graphic deaths. Known for its punishing difficulty and fast-paced gameplay, Alien Hominid was frequently compared to other difficult side-scrolling shooters like Metal Slug. In this game, players take on the role of a yellow alien who must defeat Secret Agents trying to capture him. Among the new features are solo and local co-op gameplay experiences, three levels of difficulty, original minigames, and weekly and monthly Steam achievements.

Alongside Alien Hominid HD, The Behemoth will also release Alien Hominid Invasion, an all-new re-imagining of the game with new gameplay and mechanics for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. A bundle including both games will also be available for players to get their hands on at a special price.

Although no specific release date for Alien Hominid HD and Invasion has been announced yet, the studio promised that another announcement will be coming soon.

Alien Hominid HD is scheduled to release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2023.
