You Can Grab The Best Total War Game Later This Month For Free On Steam (Update)

Updated on 13 April 2020:

The SteamDB page for Total War Shogun 2 has been updated, and the game is now expected to be free to play and keep permanently if you grab it from 27 April to 1 May 2020.

As a veteran Total War fan myself, I understand how intimidating and overwhelming it can be to find an entry point into the franchise. My advice is usually this, that gamers should pick any Total War title focusing on the historical time period that they’re most interested in. In my case, that’s the Roman era, so I usually play Total War Rome II or Total War Attila.

However, most Total War fans can agree that the (objectively and arguably) best title remains 2011’s Total War Shogun 2. According to the SteamDB page for the game, Total War Shogun 2 is expected to be free for everyone to claim and own on Steam from 18 April to 20 April 2020 (which is the weekend after next).

Here’s the link to the Steam Store page for Total War Shogun 2.

Total War Shogun 2 1

Total War Shogun 2 is beautiful, and ambitious, as well as still very much playable and impressive even now, almost a decade after its initial launch. It doesn’t feel dated at all, right down to the clean UI and great graphics. Plus, this game is perfect for anyone who wants something to sink hundreds of hours into and devote their time to, especially while weathering the current COVID-19 pandemic.

For a glimpse of how epic the game can be, feast your eyes below.
