A New Harvest Moon Game Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

Natsume and Rising Star Games have announced Harvest Moon: One World exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. It is slated to launch sometime in fall 2020.

According to the Rising Star Games official website, Harvest Moon: One World will feature a “brand-new way of exploring Harvest Moon that seasoned players and new generations will both enjoy.”

The new game is also described as featuring “a world without tomatoes, strawberries, or even cabbage?” with an adventure that spans “an entire world”, suggesting that this will be the most expansive title in the franchise to date.

Natsume president and CEO Hiro Maekawa said:

“Over the decades, Harvest Moon has evolved but has always retained the traditional, family-friendly farming fun that the franchise is known for.

The new engine and new graphics will upgrade this experience for 2020.

We are so excited to share more about the features of Harvest Moon: One World in the coming months.”

The Harvest Moon franchise has suffered from years in an uninspired slump, especially since its original developer Marvelous parted ways with IP owner Natsume. Marvelous is now developing their own farming sim franchise with Story Of Seasons, which has been the stronger franchise of late.

The last Harvest Moon game was 2017/2018’s Harvest Moon: Light Of Hope for the PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS, which was a disappointment. It will be interesting what Natsume and Rising Star Games will do with Harvest Moon: One World to distinguish it from similar games like the Story Of Seasons and Animal Crossing franchises.
