Video Game Rapper Mega Ran Raises US$11k & More For Protesters On Twitch
By Jonathan Toyad|June 7, 2020|0 Comment
Last week, two black music veterans Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang urged their peers from making money on 2nd June and reflect on long-standing racism via the #TheShowMustBePaused initiative. Video game rapper and Mega Man fan Mega Ran decided to leverage his popularity on Twitch and raising bail funds instead.
The fundraising was a response to the deaths of George Floyd and other black Americans in police custody. He raised US$11,000 for the Bail Project, a national nonprofit. “The Bail Project is a cause I believe in,” Mega Ran said.
“I challenged my supporters and they came through. It was a pleasant surprise and this is only the beginning. I’m so proud of the progress we’ve made but as we can see from just watching TV or stepping outside, there’s more work to be done.”
