First The Batman Trailer Teases A Brutal & Raw Dark Knight In Action
The DC FanDome The Batman panel took place earlier today, with director Matt Reeves and actor Robert Pattinson appearing to answer questions about the upcoming movie.
According to Reeves, this is a Batman who is still “learning how to be Batman”, and that Paul Dano will be playing “a version of the Riddler that no one has ever seen before”.
In addition, he said that HBO’s Gotham PD TV series will also explore an element of the story, going back to Year One and the emergence of Batman. This is interesting considering that the movie will focus on Batman’s Year Two.
The Batsuit worn by Robert Pattinson is practical and battle-damaged, such as gashes on the collar piece. It took a year to design and build the Batsuit, Batmobile and Batbike.
Reeves also confirmed that Gotham City is shot in Liverpool in the UK. Reeves described Pattinson:
“He is a chameleon. He is such a gifted actor. … he also happens to be a tremendous, passionate fan of Batman.”
The Batman is “not an origin tale”, but it is “a detective story” and a story about “corruption.”
The Batman is slated to premiere in 2021. In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
