Publisher Activision and developers Treyarch and Raven Software have announced that Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will launch for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net on 13 November 2020. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will be releasing sometime in holiday 2020.
Those who pre-order any digital edition will receive:
Early access to the Open Beta, first on PS4 (four days before other platforms)
Operator Frank Woods and an assault rifle Weapon Blueprint for immediate use in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty Warzone
Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War Key Features
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is a direct sequel to 2010’s Call of Duty Black Ops, which was also set during the Cold War in the 1960s.
While Treyarch will be handling the multiplayer, Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War‘s campaign has been handled by Raven, the developer’s first original game project since 2010’s Singularity.
Single-Player
Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War drops fans into the depths of the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s.
Nothing is ever as it seems in a gripping single-player Story Campaign, where players will come face-to-face with historical figures and hard truths, as they battle around the globe through iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet-era Moscow, and more.
As elite operatives, you will follow the trail of a shadowy figure named Perseus, who is on a mission to destabilize the global balance of power and change the course of history.
Descend into the dark centre of this global conspiracy alongside iconic characters like Woods, Mason and Hudson, as well as a new cast of operatives attempting to stop a plot, decades in the making.
Will feature a character creator, which allows players to design their own single-player operator for the first time.
More player choice, as any mission allows players to take different paths to an objective, and even dialogue options at some points in the story.
Players can also accomplish extra objectives and discover evidence to unlock two optional missions, which provide them with more narrative context to these levels.
These choices will affect how the story progresses and ultimately what ending players receive, although it’s clear that these choices will still be limited within a broader narrative.
The story is written by David S. Goyer, best known as the screenwriter of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.
Multiplayer
Beyond the single-player campaign, Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War delivers the next generation of multiplayer combat and an all-new Zombies experience, in addition to sharing content with the free-to-play, free-for-everyone blockbuster battle royale experience, Call of Duty Warzone.
Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War will feature cross-gen and cross-play support, with cross-progression for all players to play together.
Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War will also offer a Battle Pass system and deliver a steady stream of post-launch content, including multiplayer maps and modes, Zombies experiences, along with a robust schedule of in-game community events.
Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War includes shared progression features with Call Of Duty Warzone, adding inventory items that can be used in both titles.
In addition, Call Of Duty Warzone players will still have access to Modern Warfare content they earned previously, like Operators and weapon blueprints.
Zombies
Uncover dark Cold War experiments that unleash a new Zombie threat to take on in frightening and intense co-operative gameplay with friends.
