Activision Will Be Charging Extra For Its Next-Gen Games, Starting With Call Of Duty
For those planning to own physical and digital versions of next-gen games, well, you may be paying US$10 extra.
At least where Activision games are concerned. The bigwig triple-A company confirms that the standard edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be priced higher than the current-generation standard editions.
The standard edition for next-gen games will include a copy for current-gen users who want to play on that version too. So if you get an Xbox Series X version, you get the Xbox One version for free. If you get the PS5 version, you’ll get the PS4 version for free.
Will this be the new normal for bigger companies like EA and Take-Two to follow suit? Games are already expensive enough as it is with the RM200+/US$59.99 price tag. Now with an extra US$10? The sad thing is we wouldn’t be surprised if people will just accept this lying down.
Also, if people were to say that the extra price hike is due to the rising cost of game development, that’s pretty much a load of bull. There are key aspects where money can be saved especially with companies like Activision Blizzard, EA, and Take Two. It usually starts from the top.
