Disney will be creating its next animated epic Raya And The Last Dragon which is slated for 12th March 2021. We know that Awkwafina will be voicing the dragon Sisu, but there’s been a change in the main character choice, as well as some director and writer updates.

Kelly Marie Tran, renowned for playing Star Wars’ Rose Tico (via Entertainment Weekly), will be replacing Cassie Steele for the role of main character Raya. Moana co-director Don Hall is now Raya’s main director together with  Carlos López Estrada, while writer Qui Nguyen is joining Crazy Rich Asians writer Adele Lim as co-writer. Paul Briggs and John Ripa will be co-directors for the film. Here’s what Carlos thought of Kelly Marie Tran for the role:
