The E1 Championship Lines Up The Best Sim Racers From 16 Countries On The Starting Grid
By Alleef Ashaari|October 20, 2020|0 Comment
The E1 Championship is a premier SIM racing series where the best drivers from Asia Pacific will compete with RaceRoom. RaceRoom Racing Experience is a free-to-play racing simulator for PC, developed by Sector3 Studios, (formerly known as SimBin Studios) and published by RaceRoom Entertainment AG.
It is slated to run from November 2020 to January 2021, where all the races will be streamed live on Astro channel EGG Network. 12 teams consisting of 24 drivers from 16 countries will be competing for a US$15,000 prize pool.
To register for the E1 Championship, you can head on over here and fill out the registration form. Those chosen will be contacted by Axle Motorsports, but it’s worth pointing out that there will be an unspecified registration fee.
During a press conference, Axle Motorsports founder and Global Edition organizer Alex Yoong said:
“EGG Network and Axle Motorsports will select which racers get entry into the E1 Championship. We know who the best teams are and the best drivers in the region.
How we’ll basically select them is that we will charge a pretty high entry fee, but that will gauge how committed they are to gaining entry.
For professional reasons, we will have entry fees. They’re not cheap but in the realm of motorsports, they are really cheap. But yeah, we have unparalleled exposure with motorsports in the region with EGG Network and Astro, which is phenomenal.
Once the entry fee is paid, we will select the best teams with the best reputations in motorsports and esports. We’ve had a lot of inquiries from esports teams who are keen to get into motorsports or the eRacing part of it.
eRacing is not as big as some of the other esports out there, but the retention is really high. It’s just growing and growing. The skills are transferable (to real-life motorsports) and it’s non-violent. You can see why the growth is there.
We also have our prize money. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s not a small amount either. A US$15,000 prize pool will go a long way to elevating any fears about entry fees.”
