Square Enix Trademarks A Bunch Of Final Fantasy VII Names & Terms [Update]

Square Enix has filed trademarks for the following titles and terms in Japan, Europe, Canada, Australia, and the USA:

  • “Ever Crisis”
  • “First Soldier”
  • The Shinra Electric Power Company logo

These trademarks were made public today. If you’ve been keeping tabs on Final Fantasy games, you know darn well that these are related to 1997 hit RPG Final Fantasy VII and the 2020 remake. See, “Ever Crisis” is similar title-wise to past Final Fantasy VII spin-offs Before Crisis and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII; the latter PSP game stars fan-favourite Zack Faire.

The “First Soldier”? It’s a reference to everybody’s favourite RPG villain Sephiroth. And the Shinra Electric Power Company is the main evil organization in Final Fantasy VII. In any case, Square Enix is far from done with Final Fantasy VII Remake and the brand in general, especially with its recent sales numbers.
